Hogfish - Lachnolaimus maximus
Family Labridae, WRASSES
Description: Has a deep body with long tapering mouth with protruding teeth. Color may vary, but is usually a soft red tone. Larger specimens have a diagonal purple band running from dorsal fin to snout, and the first three rays of the dorsal find are elongated into streamers. Tail and anal fin also sport modest streamers.

Where found: Coral reefs and rock areas.
Size: Most run 1 to 4 pounds.

Florida record: 19 pounds, 8 ounces.

Bag Limit: 5 per person per day.
Comments: Must remain in whole condition until landed ashore (heads and tails intact)
