Destin Fishing Report 10-15-17 to 10-22-17
The westher gods have given us some nice days this week and then on others made it misserable. In between the days the the wind was blowing all angles from the pier, surf, bay private boats and charter boats have brought some nice catch to the Destin Fishing Rodeo - Destin, Florida
Nearshore Trolling---Plenty of kings and good numbers on the blackfin tuna. For kings fish live cigar minnows and plugs like Yozuri or Rapalla lures.... For trophy rodeo kings fish live hardtails, mullet and ladyfish. Balckfin tuna on ceader plugs fished behind a bird teaser.
Offshore Trolling---Some dolphin, a few wahoo, some scattered white and blue marlin and barracuda. Check the offshore report of ROFFS Roffer's Ocean Fishing Forecasting Service, Inc. for fishing locations.
Bottom Fishing--Triggerfish have been good on the weekends when they are open. Great big bull mingos on the edges, grouper on offshore natural bottom and some pretty black snapper.
Deepwater Bottom Fishing---Barrel grouper bit the best this week, a few snowy grouper, warsaw grouper and tilefish.
Surf Fishing---Pompano are improving by the day, fresh peeled shrip or sandfleas for bait. Whiting are on and off and the sharks after dark are off the hook good.
Pier Fishing---Kings are biting in the early mornings when the wind has a south east component to it. Spanish through the day, some big bull reds and a few bluefish. Flounder are just starting to show up.
Bay Fishing---Keeper redfish around the jetties, Destin Bridge and Coast Guard Station, Fish live shrimp on a carolina rig, Bull reds around the Midbay Bridge, troll deep diving plugs along the bridge or around schools of bait where you see the birds diving. Trout are best at the east end of the bay closer to 331 bridge and four mile point.
