Destin Fishing Report 10-8-17 to 10-14-17

Thankfully we finally had a break in the weather. The Destin Fishing Rodeo - Destin, Florida is in full swing now and the board is filling up. The break in the weather has allowed boats to fish farther offshore and catch a larger variety of species. If you scrool down the page you will see where i have shared post from others with some great pictures this week.

Nearshore--Kings and Balckfin Tuna are the main stays, Troll live baits or... Yozuri plugs over rocks and reefs for the kings, Look in the same places and be aware of tuna free jumping or look for the birds working to find the better blackfin tuna bite. Use a spreader and some birds for teasers and troll with cedar plugs and Rapala lures. have a popper ready for tunas busting on the surface.

Offshore--A few white marlin, a few swordfish, some wahoo and dlphin action, Start at the southwest edge and work across the nipple and out to the spur.

Bottom Fishing---Mingo snapper are a staple, there have been some nice grouper this week, several over 40lbs. Plent of scamp in deep water over 250ft, Chunking for blackfin tuna near the knuckle.

Deepwater Bottom Fishing---Barrel grouper and snowy groupler have beem the best, a few longtail sea bass and one a couple tilefish.

Bay Fishing---Redfish bite is one around the bridges, Trout are good around the 332 bridge and four mile point. Flounder are showing up better and better both rod and reel fishing and gigging. The fall rowe mullet run has also started.

Surf Fishing---plenty of sharks and a few pompano and whiting, each day the water gets better since the hurricane and that will continue to improve.

Pier Fishing---Only a few kings, a fair bite on the spanish, ladyfish and hardtails.

Dont forget your live bait from Fresh Fish Live Bait VHF Ch 80 and you offshore water report with ROFFS Roffer's Ocean Fishing Forecasting Service, Inc.
