Today's Notes:

For the most part the weekend turned out a lot better than the weather forecast predicted. The king bite from the pier and on the near shore wrecks has been some of the best we have seen all summer. Dustin Filippo, his wife Brandy, and their fishing buddy Erica out for a day of fun on their new boat spent the day trolling near the Destin pass. The first fish of the day went to Brandy when she hooked up with this nice little shark while everyone else was catching bait. Smart girl some of the biggest kings I have ever seen caught was by free lining a live bait when stopping to catch bait. The rest of the day was spent catching kings and the occasional bonita. The also had a few bites that they were not able to land, but what’s fishing day if you don’t have a couple of big ones that got away stories!

Reds, trout, and flounder are being caught all over the sound and East Bay right now, but if you really want a good fight have a little larger outfit rigged just in case the jacks show up. They have been running anywhere from 5lb to 25lbs so if you come across one like Joannie Parks did recently you will be ready for a great battle!

Just remember folks fishing is all about building great memories, even if the big ones get away, so get out there!
